On December 5th, 2022, BIOBESTicide will host its first Training for Farmers to present the innovative biopesticide developed in the frame of the BIOBESTicide Project.

For anyone interested this is an great opportunity to discover the innovative biopesticides developed within the frame of the BIOBESTicide Project.

In this event, which will take place online from 11 to 12 (CET) and it will be moderated by GREENCEEL – the project coordinator, will unravel the features and benefits on a new biopesticide counteract the effects of Grapevine Trunk Diseases on both vineyards and winery industry.

About BIOBESTicide Project

The BIOBESTicide project will validate and demonstrate the production of an effective and cost-efficient biopesticide. The demonstration will be based on an innovative bio-based value chain starting from the valorisation of sustainable biomasses, i.e. beet pulp and sugar molasses, and will exploit the properties of the oomycete Pythium oligandrum strain I-5180 to increase natural plant defenses, to produce an highly effective and eco-friendly biopesticide solution for vine plants protection.

BIOMODEL4REGIONS partners CiaoTech and Zeilona Cheima are also partners in BIOBESTicide.

BIOMODEL4REGIONS will be presented at Ecomondo 2022, the benchmark event in Europe for technological and industrial innovation in the field of green and circular economy, which will be held in Rimini (Italy) from 8th to 11th November 2022.

CiaoTech – PNO Group will have a stand at the conference where BIOMODEL4REGIONS will be one of several projects promoted. The stand will be organized as a display booth showcasing important R&D projects that CiaoTech currently are involved in.

To find this presentation on site, visit the D1/189 stand.

The Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE), partner of the BIOMODEL4REGIONS project, joined a local Trade Fair that was includede in the frame of a wider event, the European Week for Waste Reduction, between the 19th and 27th of October 2022

The European Week for Waste Reduction – EWWR is an initiative to promote the implementation of awareness-raising actions on sustainability and proper waste management during the week of November 19-27, 2022. This year the thematic focus of EWWR is “Circular and Sustainable Textiles.” The project was presented to many participants and selected stakeholders.

The 1st CCIR Coordination and Support Workshop provided many interesting opportunities to network with other projects and extend the reach of BIOMODEL4REGIONS.

Among many new contacts that were established one meeting stands out. This was the first time the coordinator for BIOMODEL4REGIONS had the opportunity to met with the coordinator for ROBIN, a “sister project” founded under the same call.

This meeting offered a possibility to discuss potential synergies and plan for future common activities.

ROBIN. Deploying circular BIOecoNomies at Regional level with a territorial approach

BIOECONOMY/CONFERENCE. The Biomodel4Regions project will be presented at the 1st CCRI Coordination and Support Workshop organized by the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative.

On 19th October 2022 Patrizia Circelli, coordinator of the Biomodel4Regions project, will present the main project objectives and expected impacts during the 1st CCRI Coordination and Support Workshop organized by the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative in Brussels.

This workshop will bring together the key actors within the Circular Cities and Regions Initiative for the first time and kick off the overall initiative.

The event provides participants a unique opportunity to meet the CCRI network, including some of the leading actors who are fostering the circular transition for cities and regions across the EU.

The Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia (CluBE) attended the 29th International Fair for Agricultural Machinery, Equipment and Supplies and presented the BIOMODEL4REGIONS project in front of many stakeholders.

At the IFIB 2022 CiaoTech was invited to join a round table with the topic  “The decarbonization of industry: the role of regions” on September 29th.

As representative for the project CiaoTech gave a speech on the following topic: “Circular bioeconomy at regional scale: the BIOMODEL4REGIONS project as a case study”.

The project aims to support the establishment of innovative governance models at local/regional level and thereby strengthening EU and international science-policy interfaces to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

BIOMODEL4REGIONS was represented by our lead partner CiaoTech at the IFIB 2022, the ‘International Forum on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioeconomy’ held in Bari (Italy), September 29th-30th2022 (more info can be found here https://ifibwebsite.com/ ).

This unique event gathered many stakeholders and key-actors of the European bio-based, bioeconomy and biotechnology sectors, thanks to conferences, roundtables, poster sessions and side events organized in the frame of this international event.

BIOMODEL4REGIONS participated with a poster and participation in a round table discussion.

BIOECONOMY. A new project aiming to achieve a better-informed decision-making process on local and regional level is being launched as the consortium with partners from most of Europe meet up for a one-day kick-off in Brussels. The project aims to support the establishment of innovative governance models at local/regional level and thereby strengthening EU and international science-policy interfaces to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

By building on knowledge and experiences from years of research and studies within the field of bioeconomy the project BIOMODEL4REGIONS strives to put proven best practises and successful initiatives to action. This will be done thanks to a methodology based on the set-up of a governance structure demonstrated in 6 pilot regions, taking into account different areas throughout Europe (Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central-Western EU), their conditions and assets and different primary sectors (forestry, agri-food, aquatic biomass and organic fraction of municipal solid waste- OFMSW).

This is an effort to capitalise on several years of studies and research and strengthen the field of bioeconomy in EU, Patrizia Circelli, project leader.

As circular economy becomes more and more important to reach overarching sustainability goals and help delivering on more specified objectives as the European Green Deal and the EU bio-based economy strategy knowledge about what actions to take and how to execute them are of central importance.

BIOMODEL4REGIONS will help with the support and knowledge that is fundamental for deliver results in these areas. Biomodels4Regions will support the development of new bio-based economy strategies and blueprints, a work that will bring a better-informed decision-making process, societal engagement, and innovation. Patrizia Circelli, project leader.

The 6 pilot regions, taken into account different model regions, condition and assets as well as different primary sectors, will be demonstrated under a fully transferable case-study approach. This guarantees that the results can be replicated throughout Europe and give the results a life and impact beyond the lifespan of the project.
